Rival wanted to be different from all the post/editorial houses in town. Since they primarly repped editors we decided to use the idea of collage as if it were done by a child, consisting of smudges and smears. A mischievous childlike mascot was also integrated into the design. Both methods were representational of how they approached their craft in their own unique and special way. At the same time it was also meant to deter from the negative meaning that Rival has as a name. Rival wanted to convey the idea of healthy rivalry in the industry, just as it exists between children.
